Our Musical Director
Meet Lucas Boardman, the talented musician leading our choir since September 2023
Lucas Boardman
Lucas Boardman, primarily a French Horn player has studied at the Royal College of Music London for a decade now. Starting at the junior department in 2015 he is set to complete his Masters Degree in August 2025. As well as this he grew up studying conducting and singing, two musical attributes he decided to pursue slightly later in his musical life taking up the position as Music Director for the Hounslow Community Choir in September 2023.
Although French Horn has been Lucas' main focus for many years as an eighteen year old he was a touring vocal soloist across Europe as well as spells conducting chamber orchestra's on tour as well. Lucas enjoys a fruitful freelance career most notably as of late playing with the Philharmonia Orchestra as their fourth horn.
With no one career path Lucas hopes to continue to impart his free spirited approach to music making with the Hounslow Choir, taking his constant delve into the world of music knowledge and helping others to understand and enjoy it as he does.

Frequently Asked Questions
Got questions? We’ve got answers to the most common queries about joining and participating in our choir
Not at all! Our choir welcomes everyone regardless of experience. Many of our members had never sung in a choir before joining us. Our sessions are designed to be accessible to all skill levels.
A typical session begins with warm-up exercises for our voices and bodies. We then work on pieces in our repertoire, learning new songs and refining ones we already know. We take a short break halfway through, and end with a complete run-through of something we’ve worked on. The atmosphere is supportive, fun, and focused on enjoying music together.
Yes, we have a fee of £45 per term. This covers our venue hire, music director fees, and other running costs. There is a small additional cost for sheet music printing or you can print your own. We offer a taster session for newcomers, and payment plans are available if needed.
Simply come along to one of our Monday evening sessions at Kingsley Academy! It’s best to arrive about 10 minutes early so we can welcome you properly. You can also contact us beforehand if you have any questions or would like someone to meet you at the door.
Performing is encouraged as it’s a rewarding part of choir membership, but it’s not mandatory. We understand that some members may prefer not to perform, especially when first joining. Your comfort is most important to us.
We sing a diverse repertoire including pop songs, musical theater numbers, folk songs, classical pieces, and world music. We try to include something for everyone and regularly ask members for song suggestions.
